Press Release: 30.9.2025, 8:00am – The Wellbeing Services County of Kanta-Häme securely archives its ProConsona Lastenvalvoja legacy system using automation
The Wellbeing Services County of Kanta-Häme is archiving its legacy ProConsona Lastenvalvoja system using an automation solution provided by Digital Workforce and Atostek. The project is delivered as a SaaS service by 2M-IT.
The legacy system includes four databases that cover more than 25,000 personal identity codes. The Automation extracts data from the source system and transfers it in the required format to Kela’s Kanta archive. Once the archiving project is concluded, the wellbeing services county can close the system in a controlled and secure way.
“The Wellbeing Services County of Kanta-Häme was obliged to take over the legacy social care systems from former municipal organizations, which we are now archiving. The archiving project is under a particularly tight schedule, as the vendor has terminated the system contract and maintenance has only been extended temporarily. It was important for us to find a partner capable of delivering the service in an agile and reliable manner within the set 8-month timeframe. Once the old data is securely archived in Kela’s Kanta service, the passive databases can be swiftly decommissioned, eliminating both maintenance costs and related workload”, says Sanna Ristolainen, ICT Service Manager, Wellbeing Services County of Kanta-Häme.
“We have been developing our methodology since 2019 to meet the specific requirements of data migration projects, making project definition both agile and precise. The strengths of our automated data migration service include independence from source systems, reliable timelines, and flexible delivery. Our expertise is also grounded in deep industry knowledge and our specialists’ previous experience in social and healthcare organizations, enabling us to provide customers with comprehensive support in migration projects – for example, in matters related to data handling”, explains Juha Nieminen, Head of Healthcare Nordics, Digital Workforce
“The feedback we have received from 2M-IT’s customers shows that the Kanta transfer service we’ve built together is highly needed — and our collaboration with Digital Workforce works seamlessly. We have already carried out migrations for more than half of Finland’s wellbeing services counties, and Kanta-Häme Wellbeing Services County has also utilized our expertise in earlier projects. It is rewarding to see the strong trust placed in our know-how and ability to deliver projects in line with agreed objectives”, says Miika Parvio, Business Director, ERA Services, Atostek

Digital Workforce completes the acquisition of e18 Consulting, strengthening NHS pathway automation in the UK
London | Helsinki, 1.10.2025 09:05 AM EEST – Press Release
Digital Workforce Services Plc has today closed the acquisition of UK-based e18 Consulting Ltd (e18 Innovation). Announced on 18 July 2025, the transaction supports Digital Workforce’s strategy for profitable international growth and makes healthcare the company’s largest vertical, strengthening its position as a leading provider of pathway automation in the UK.
The NHS (National Health Service) is one of Europe’s largest healthcare systems by scale and scope: over 220 Trusts serving 56 million people with 1.4 million staff, backed by a £190bn budget and a dedicated £10bn push for digital, data and AI. The NHS, like other publicly funded healthcare systems, is under sustained pressure to improve access and patient flow. e18 has delivered award-winning, vendor-agnostic automation expertise across dozens of NHS organisations. Combined with Digital Workforce’s Outsmart platform and delivery capacity, customers gain scale, resilience, innovative new solutions and faster outcomes that free clinical time and help reduce backlogs.
Founded in the UK, e18 has spent the past decade helping NHS Trusts move from pilots to nationally recognised automation programmes through deep sector knowledge and hands-on delivery. As part of Digital Workforce, that experience is amplified. The joint team will focus on removing administrative bottlenecks in outpatient, cancer and diagnostics pathways, with pre-packaged, outcome-based automations and a fully managed service offering that also covers end-to-end process automation solutions and Agentic AI. The company will also support data migrations to accelerate programme scale-up.
“Closing the e18 acquisition is a pivotal step in our strategy. Together, we can replicate innovative and proven care-pathway automations from the Nordics and the US to free up clinical time and improve patient flow across the NHS. Our team is also very excited to learn from the award-winning automation programmes, best practices and community building in the UK led by e18. The reception to this transaction has been very positive from all stakeholders, and we look forward to starting the work together now,” says Jussi Vasama, CEO, Digital Workforce.
“We can now go further and faster for our existing and new NHS customers, keeping the patient-centred focus while adding scale, platform capabilities and 24/7 managed services. Digital Workforce has unique experience and one of the most experienced and impactful automation and AI teams within healthcare. Our story is about impact: transforming the way healthcare works and supporting NHS teams on their digital journey to a sustainable future,” says Louise Wall, Managing Director, Healthcare UK & Ireland.
All operational e18 employees continue in their current roles. e18’s figures will be consolidated into the Digital Workforce Group upon completion.

Press Release: 4.7.2025, 8:00am – Kanta Transfer Success: The Wellbeing Services County of Central Uusimaa Retires Legacy Systems, Saving Nearly €1M Annually
The Wellbeing Services County of Central Uusimaa procured a centralized client and patient information system in 2020 to replace the various legacy systems previously used across its organization. However, the introduction of the new system did not lead to the immediate retirement of the old ones — legacy systems had to remain operational until all data stored in them had been successfully transferred to the national Kanta services or the county’s own archives. Maintaining multiple systems in parallel resulted in significant costs and additional administrative burden for the county.
To retire the legacy systems as quickly as possible, the Wellbeing Services County launched an archiving project in spring 2024, supported by an automation-driven solution. Digital Workforce was selected as the implementation partner through an open tendering process, and the project was delivered in collaboration with subcontractor Atostek.
The data transfer project covered the county’s Pegasos- and Mukana -healthcare systems and ProConsona social care system. The entire archiving effort was completed within 15 months, with the project timeline calculated from the first steering group meeting.
Through the archiving project, the county was able to decommission its legacy systems in a controlled manner, securely transfer all data under statutory retention obligations to national or regional archives, and reduce the costs and risks associated with maintaining old systems.
“All project objectives were achieved, and the extensive implementation was completed on schedule. We were particularly pleased with the clear project governance, smooth communication, and our partners’ solution-oriented approach—even in challenging situations. The project benefited greatly from their deep understanding of the Kanta transfer requirements and ability to support decision-making with well-reasoned solution options”, says Hanna Downton, ICT Area Manager at The Wellbeing Services County of Central Uusimaa, and continues:
“The use of automation was essential for the rapid completion of the project. Thanks to this, we were able to exit our legacy systems on schedule, bringing us annual savings of approximately one million euros and freeing expert resources for other tasks.”
“We’re proud to serve as a trusted partner to wellbeing services counties in completing the critical system transitions. Our collaboration with the specialists at Central Uusimaa was flexible and positive throughout the project. We’re pleased that our automation solution could support their success”, says Juha Nieminen, Head of Healthcare Nordics, Digital Workforce.
“We have implemented Kanta transfers together with Digital Workforce for nearly half of Finland’s wellbeing services counties. In every joint project, the division of responsibilities and execution have run seamlessly. Our solution is based on Digital Workforce’s robotic process automation (RPA) and Atostek’s ERA platform. The data extraction is performed using RPA, which enables agile and system-independent implementation. The conversion and transfer to the Kanta archive are carried out via the ERA platform, which is designed for managing social and healthcare data”, explains Miika Parvio, Director of ERA Services at Atostek.
